The adjective unbearable is used to qualify that or that which is difficult or impossible to bear: endure, resist. The concept can refer to a person, a situation, a feeling, etc.
For example: “That man is unbearable! The only thing he does is complain ” , “ When I got up, I felt an excruciating pain in my spine ” , “ The new film by the German director seemed unbearable to me, I almost fell asleep in the middle of the show ” .
The unbearable, due to its characteristics, causes discomfort, annoyance or suffering. That is why you want it to end or be left behind as soon as possible, in order to regain tranquility or well-being.
Suppose that, in a bar, there is very loud music, which is played at such a high volume that it prevents conversation. In this context, two friends who are trying to maintain a dialogue cannot hear each other, so they decide to go out. Once outside the place, both comment that the music was unbearable: there was no way to tolerate it because of its excessive volume.
Take the case of a man who is always looking for an excuse to argue or fight with others. It is an individual who contradicts his interlocutors all the time, presents his opinions as if they were absolute truths and is even usually disrespectful in dealing. Faced with this reality, many affirm that he is an unbearable individual, with whom it is preferable not to dialogue since, otherwise, conflicts arise.
Finally, “El unbearable” is the title by whichthe film “The Cable Guy” was known in Argentina, starring Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick and directed by Ben Stiller.
